The 2015 Lake Jindabyne Dragon Boat Challenge will be held on Sunday 15th February and looking to be the biggest yet. The Challenge is open to corporate, community, juniors and your crew.

  • A Team consists of 20 people (minimum 8 male/female) plus the sweep and drummer provided. The race distance will be approx 200m and each team will be guaranteed 2 races with Final.
  • No previous experience is necessary as training is provided on Saturday afternoon for all teams. All equipment will be provided and experienced helms will steer your boat. Safety and skills training, carried out by Dragon Boat NSW will be held on Saturday afternoon with all race events on Sunday.
  • Dragon boat racing is an exciting and competitive water sport which has rapidly grown in popularity as a relatively new sport in Australia. The forty foot long dragon boats are brightly painted and decorated with a dragons head and tail. The races are exciting and spectacular adrenaline charged 200m sprint. Dragon boating is by Nature a social sport requiring large numbers of people to work together. It develops strength and endurance as well as friendships.

Corporate Team - $1000

The Corporate team entry includes:

  • Team Entry fee for 20 people (Min 8 male/female paddlers) generally from one commercial business. Also covers equipment training and public liability insurance for all team members. (steerer and drummer provided);
  • Reserved area in a prime position near commentary tent: 3 x 3 metres;
  • Corporate banner placement in a prominent area along the foreshore;
  • Acknowledged on the day as a sponsor of an individual heat;
  • Acknowledged as sponsor on posters and flyers leading up to the event.

Community Crew - $600

  • Community Team consists of 20 people (Min 8 male/female paddlers). Cost Includes: equipment, training and public liability insurance for all team members (Steerer and drummer provided).

Sporting Teams - $500

Team Composition - as per the category definitions and race rules;

  • • All teams must have a minimum of 16 paddlers to a maximum of 20 paddlers, 4 reserves, 1 drummer, 1 steerer

Premier Mixed Crews

  • All teams must have a minimum of 16 paddlers to a maximum of 20 paddlers, 4 reserves, 1 drummer, 1 steerer
  • 2 clubs can combine 50/50
  • Maximum of 8 males paddlers (excludes drummer and steerer);

Premier Women's Crews

  • • All women team must have a minimum of 16 paddlers to a maximum of 20 paddlers, 4 reserves, 1 drummer, 1 steerer
  • 2 clubs can combine 50/50

Men 10's

  • All men paddlers – Can combine up to 3 clubs

Masters Mixed Crews

  • All paddlers must be over 40 years (as of 01st June) drummer and sweep can be younger (min 12 years). All teams must have a minimum of 16 paddlers to a maximum of 20 paddlers, 4 reserves, 1 drummer, 1 steerer
  • 2 clubs can combine 50/50
  • Maximum of 8 males paddlers (excludes drummer and steerer);

Masters Mixed Crews

  • Maximum of 10 males paddlers (excludes drummer and sweep). All paddlers must be over 40 years (as of 01st June) drummer and sweep can be younger (min 12 years).

Masters Women Crews

  • All women paddlers must be over 40 years (as of 01st June) drummer and sweep can be younger (min 12 years). All teams must have a minimum of 16 paddlers to a maximum of 20 paddlers, 4 reserves, 1 drummer, 1 steerer
  • 2 clubs can combine 50/50
  • Maximum of 8 males paddlers (excludes drummer and steerer);

Note: Every team must use a DBNSW Accredited sweeps. "p" sweeps must wear orange vests. All sweeps must get their names ticked off by the Chief Marshall. Compulsory for all Team Members to wear current ID Tags.
